Ride 36 km downhill from the summit of Mount Donna Buang all the way to Warburton.Start at the summit and descend 36 km through stunning Mountain Ash forest, with occasional panoramic views across the valley. Most of the ride follows quiet gravel and bitumen roads. After a short, steep climb, the final 10 km follows the iconic O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail, a former open-water aqueduct that once supplied Melbourne’s water. From Dee Road Picnic Area, cruise the final downhill section before joining the Warburton to Lilydale Rail Trail for the short ride back to Oscars on the Yarra.Before you set off, your guide will provide a safety briefing and kit you out with a mountain bike, helmet and gloves. We brought a group of 22 people up to the Yarra Valley for a mountain bike day and Warburton Adventure Company made the whole thing seamless from start to finish. Private bus up and back, shuttles up the hill all day, and when a few of our crew got turned around on the trail they went out of their way to help track them down. Above and beyond doesn't cover it. The team were genuinely lovely - easy to talk to, cooperative, flexible, and clearly passionate about what they do. Frequently asked questions. Are your adventures suitable for children? Yes, most of our adventure activities are suitable for children. However, please check our age guide listed on our individual adventure products. If you’re unsure which activity is suitable for your child please contact us to discuss your options. What age do you classify as a child? A child is anyone under the age of 18, as individuals are legally recognised as adults once they turn 18. All children participating in our adventures, whether self-guided or guided, must be accompanied by a paying adult or one of our adventure guides. What’s the difference between guided and self-guided adventures? In our guided adventures you’ll have the safety and assurance of a professional adventure guide with you every step of the way. All our guides are trained and accredited outdoor adventure specialists with current Working with Children Check and First Aid Training. On a self-guided adventure we’ll provide transfers and adventure equipment, but you’ll have the freedom to enjoy the activity at your own pace. What happens if it starts raining while I’m out on tour? If it’s a little light drizzle then we’ll continue with the adventure as planned. However, if the weather turns quickly then we’ll make a judgement call based on how quickly the shower will pass, how strong the rain is, if there is lightning, thunder and strong winds. While some inclement weather is to be expected in nature based adventures, we take your comfort and safety in the outdoors very seriously.
