Warburton Bike Park is a purpose-built mountain biking trail network (developed by World Trail) in the hills around Warburton and Wesburn in the Yarra Ranges, offering scenic forest singletrack for riders of all skill levels. When completed, it will feature 160 km of trails.

Warburton Bike Park is located within Yarra State Forest, which is owned and managed by the Victorian Government’s Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).

The Park was developed with more than $20 million in Local, State and Federal Government funding. It is a public community asset intended to support Warburton’s transition away from reliance on native timber harvesting, while generating economic benefits for local businesses and the broader community.

As a publicly funded community asset, the Park was built with significant taxpayer investment, including contributions from local residents and businesses through Council rates.

Ongoing maintenance and improvements at Warburton Bike Park are funded through Yarra Ranges Council’s Capital Works program. In 2026/27, Council has allocated $12.9 million to parks, open space and streetscapes, including Warburton Bike Park.

DEECA is responsible for managing roads and access within Yarra State Forest, including the forest road network used to access the Warburton Bike Park.

Yes. Every booking helps support the ongoing care and management of the places we operate.

As a licensed tour operator (LTO) we pay an annual licence fee to Parks Victoria, as well as a per-person usage fee for anyone we take on to publicly owned or managed land including the Yarra State Forest (Warburton Bike Park) and the Yarra Ranges National Park.

These fees are included in the cost of your booking and help support the continued upkeep and protection of the trails and landscapes we enjoy.

By choosing a local business, you’re also contributing to the ongoing sustainability of the region through local employment, investment and support for the places where we live, work and play.

Helmets are mandatory. Ride within your ability and follow all signage. The park may close on Total Fire Ban days or during severe weather. Check conditions before you go, and respect the environment and other trail users.

This is a gravity trail network with steep, descending-focused trails designed for speed, and featuring berms, jumps, drops, and technical rock features. The ‘green’ trails are a spicy green and not for beginners. We think the green trails are best suited to intermediate riders and above. If you’re not used to tight berms and fast, flowy rollers, (or you don’t know what a ‘berm’ or ‘roller’ is) then stick to the Wesburn Park Pump Track, the sealed Warburton to Lilydale Rail Trail or the more rugged O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail.

If you’re a confident intermediate rider, go have fun — these trails are great. As the park expands, more blue and black trails will provide options for more experienced riders. Riders should always choose trails that match their skill level and ride within their ability.

A mountain bike is the best choice for Warburton Bike Park. If you have your own bike, bring it along — a dual suspension setup will help you get the most out of the park’s gravity trails, berms, jumps and technical features.

If you don’t have a suitable bike, you can hire a quality dual suspension mountain bike or e-MTB from our friends at Ride Time, or hire a Norco mountain bike from Warburton Adventure Co., equipped with front suspension and hydraulic disc brakes.

Riding an e-MTB? Just make sure it’s designed for mountain biking and suitable for off-road trails.

Whatever you ride, make sure you bring a helmet, closed-toe shoes, water, snacks and a jacket if rain is forecast.

Accessing the trails from Warburton gives you access to a dozen cafes and restaurants, as well as bike hire, retail and information direct from Warburton Adventure Co.

WAC HQ, our store located in the heart of town, has large maps on the wall to make planning and navigation easy, and our staff can answer your questions and make suggestions. Warburton Bike Park features maps at the trailheads and out on the course, and trails are accessible online via the Trailforks app.

Warburton Bike Park’s trail head at Wesburn Park offers parking, toilets, picnic area, playground and Wesburn Park Pump Track.

Before heading out, check the latest trail status and conditions on Trailforks. This is the best  places to check trail openings, closures, maps and current riding conditions. Warburton Bike Park can close on Total Fire Ban days, during severe weather events, or when individual trails require maintenance or other works. Always check before you ride and respect all closure signs.

If you’re driving in, there’s untimed and unmetered parking spots at the following Warburton locations:

• along the Yarra River Walk
• Story Reserve
• Warburton Skatepark
• Dammans Road
• Warburton Recreation Reserve
• 3457 Warburton Highway Warburton (behind the hardware store).

You’ll find Warburton Adventure Company at 3375 Warburton Highway, Warburton, about 75 minutes from Melbourne.

Children aged 12 and over can ride our shuttles without an accompanying adult. However, all participants must complete and sign our consent, waiver, and medical form, acknowledging that mountain biking and the products and services we provide involve inherent risks.

For participants under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete the form on their behalf. You will automatically receive a link to complete this within 7 days of your arrival, or you can complete it in-store by speaking with our team.

We recommend that all riders:

• Ride with a friend or group where possible
• Use appropriate equipment and wear suitable protective clothing
• Ensure they are confident and competent riders for the trails they choose
• Carry a mobile phone in case of emergency

There is a medical centre located in Warburton and another in Yarra Junction (by appointment only). For serious injuries, call 000 and request Ambulance and SES if required.

If you’ve broken a bone, you will be extracted from the trail and transported by ambulance or helicopter (helipad located at Wesburn Park) to the nearest emergency medical centre.

If you’d like to support the work of the SES Upper Yarra Unit, you can add a $5 donation to your booking at checkout. Your contribution goes directly towards supporting local volunteer emergency services who help keep our community safe, including those who assist in emergencies on and around the trails.

At present, no. Yarra Ranges Council (YRC) has erected a barrier across the public access road leading to the summit of Mt Tugwell.

DEECA is responsible for managing roads and access within Yarra State Forest, including the forest road network providing access to Warburton Bike Park.

The road is also subject to seasonal closures, meaning it should be closed to all users during the winter closure period, unless an exemption or permit has been issued.

We are in discussions with DEECA to understand why YRC has been permitted exclusive access, preventing Licensed Tour Operators from using a public road.
