What is Warburton Bike Park (WBP)?Warburton Bike Park is a purpose-built mountain biking trail network (developed by World Trail) in the hills around Warburton and Wesburn in the Yarra Ranges, offering scenic forest singletrack for riders of all skill levels. When completed, it will feature 160 km of trails. Is WBP open?Yes! The first 30 km of trails opened mid-2025. The next stage of trails opened April 2026 with an additional 40 km, bringing the current total to 70 km.When can I ride?Every day during daylight hours except on total fire ban days and when the park is closed for trail maintenance, safety and weather events. Do I have to ride up?No! You can if you want to, however you can get yourself and your bike transported up so you can spend more time (and energy) on the downs. Warburton Adventure Co. offers a competitively priced all day Gravity Day Pass including transportation from Warburton to Mt Bride on the hour every hour, and mid point pick ups from log dump (crn Cemetery Fireline and Edwardstown Rd) every half hour. Where do I park? There’s untimed and unmetered parking spots at the following Warburton locations:along the Yarra River WalkStory ReserveWarburton SkateparkDammans RoadWarburton Recreation Reserve3457 Warburton Highway Warburton (behind the hardware store). Alternatively, you can park at the WBP trailhead at Wesburn Park in Wesburn. What type of bike is best?Mountain bikes. WAC HQ hires out Norco mountain bikes with good front suspension and hydraulic disc brakes. Bring along your dual suspension mountain bike if you have one: that will take your WBP experience to the next level. E-bikes are a no-shame game for those who’d like a little extra help on the inclines. What level of riding ability is required? This is a gravity trail network with steep, descending-focused trails designed for speed, and featuring berms, jumps, drops, and technical rock features. The ‘green’ trails are a spicy green and not for beginners. If you’re not used to tight berms and fast, flowy rollers, (or you don’t know what a ‘berm’ or ‘roller’ is) then stick to the mostly flat Warburton to Lilydale Rail Trail, the more rugged O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail, or the gravel adventure from Mt Bride to Warburton, via Big Pats Creek. If you’re a confident intermediate rider, go have fun — these trails are great. Warm up at the Wesburn Pump Track, before hitting the trails. As the park expands, more blue and black trails will provide options for more experienced riders. Riders should always choose trails that match their skill level and ride within their ability. What facilities and services are available?Accessing the trails from Warburton gives you access to a dozen cafes and restaurants, as well as bike hire, retail and information direct from WAC HQ. WAC HQ has large maps on the wall to make planning and navigation easy, and our staff can answer your questions and make suggestions. Warburton Bike Park features maps at the trailheads and out on the course, and trails are accessible online via the Trailforks app. If you’d like to book a coach or a private guided session, Warburton Adventure Co. is here to help and show you the best time ever. We provide a day experience so you can maximise your downs and not spend time on the ups!Warburton Bike Park’s trail head at Wesburn Park offers parking, toilets, picnic area, playground and Wesburn Park Pump Track. You really must try the food and coffee at Wesburn’s The Flying Apron and the baked goodies at Yarra Valley Artisan Bakery. What do I need to know before riding?Helmets are mandatory. Ride within your ability and follow all signage. The park may close on Total Fire Ban days or during severe weather. Check conditions before you go, and respect the environment and other trail users. Are there emergency services nearby if I need assistance? There is a medical centre located in Warburton and another in Yarra Junction (by appointment only). For serious injuries, call 000 and request Ambulance and SES if required. If you’ve broken a bone, you will be extracted from the trail and transported by ambulance or helicopter (helipad located at Wesburn Park) to the nearest emergency medical centre.
